Here’s a look at what we’re doing in Claremont this year:

The Discover Claremont tourism campaign continues to draw regional and online attention for Claremont’s hotels, dining, shops and attractions. The campaign is funded through the Claremont Tourism Business Improvement District, with a measured goal of increasing hotel occupancy in the city’s five properties.

The current campaign, “Take Time to Exhale,” highlights Claremont as a getaway from the bustle of greater Los Angeles – an ideal destination for intimate, relaxing days and nights. Visitors who “Take Time to Exhale” under Claremont’s urban canopy discover inviting guest rooms, relaxing day spas, more than 80 restaurants and pubs, dozens of locally owned boutiques, and an abundance of outdoor activities from bicycling to skiing to golf. New photography featuring visitor highlights was shot this summer at the Packing House, Union on Yale and other locations, and will be available soon for City and Chamber use.

This summer a “Discover Claremont” getaway package provided $100 in Claremont Chamber gift cards to hotel guests at DoubleTree and Hotel Casa 425. The program was highlighted in the Los Angeles Times earlier this summer and has been extended through December 30.

Metrolink is supporting a “green getaway” package that provides free round-trip passes for visitors to “Discover Claremont” on weekends through December 31. Hotel Claremont, DoubleTree and Hotel Casa 425 are participating in this offer.

Upcoming programs include a radio remote with KABC radio’s Merrill Shindler (editor, Los Angeles Zagat Guide Survey) highlighting Claremont dine-and-stay opportunities, and participation in a Visit California sponsored media event alongside 45 other tourist destinations.

The tourism campaign also focuses on bringing area travel journalists to write about Claremont’s hotels and attractions. Recent features include stories and reviews from CBS2, San Bernardino Sun, IE Shine On, and Not Born Yesterday, with several other high-profile media leads in the works. Claremont’s status as a Fair Trade Town will be a featured message of ongoing outreach.
