LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 2011) – R. Antonette Communications has won shared public relations business from two Southern California municipalities.
Together with The Wolcott Company, R. Antonette Communications is implementing a road safety awareness initiative for Bike Long Beach (Long Beach, Calif.); and in partnership with Be In The News and The Wolcott Company, is piloting a tourism marketing initiative for the City of Claremont, Calif.
Agency principal Ron Antonette, whose background includes in-house PR leadership roles at Mattel and ConAgra Foods, and executive roles at Fleishman-Hillard (Omnicom) and GolinHarris (Interpublic Group), is building a “micro agency” by partnering together with experienced, independent brand strategy, media relations and marketing professionals to offer subject-matter expertise for virtually any retail, consumer technology or business-to-business brand. Antonette is focusing on Southern California start-ups, small businesses and initiatives; brands that impact families; and recreational and sustainability projects.
Other recent partnerships that led to account wins include teaming with Jim Hughes PR to promote a start-up division of an international entertainment technology company, and with GMS Media + Marketing to develop strategy for a 2011 charity project. He also has recently worked with several firms to support current client projects and new business initiatives.
Locally, Antonette was appointed by Long Beach mayor Bob Foster to the city’s Parks and Recreation commission, a four-year term through June 2014. Antonette and his family are active participants in Long Beach youth and adult sports, and Ron serves as a volunteer referee for AYSO 177 and a volunteer coach for Los Altos Youth Baseball.
